Marian apparition's claim - Mary is a Savior
In some of the Marian apparitions, Mary claims that she is a Savior for us. Actual quotes from Marian apparitions appear below. Following the Marian quotes are Bible verses from both the Catholic and Protestant King James Bibles that deal with the same topic.
Marian Apparition Quotes
Quote: I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved. Apparition: Akita Status: Fully approved by the Catholic church Source: Teiji Yasuda, O.S.V., English version by John M. Haffert, Akita: The Tears and Message of Mary, Asbury, NJ, 101 Foundation, Inc., 1989, p. 78. Message from Our Lady of Akita to Sister Agnes Sasagawa.
Quote: You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. * Apparition: Fatima Status: Fully approved by the Catholic church Source: http://www.theotokos.org.uk/pages/approved/words/wordfati.html
This Marian apparition quote is not referenced in the Messages from Heaven video.
Quote: My daughter, in this time, I am the Ark, for all your brethren! I am the Ark of peace, I am the Ark of salvation, the Ark where my children must enter, if they wish to live in the Kingdom of God. Apparition: Our Lady at San Nicolas, Milford, OH Status: Bishop approved. These are apparitions in which the local Bishop (Ordinary) has investigated the apparition and its message and given his seal of approval Imprimatur. This means Catholics can (but are not required) to visit the apparition site and listen and obey the messages. Quote: …I call upon you to open yourselves completely to me so that through each of you I may be enabled to convert and save the world… Apparition: Medjugorje Status: Not officially church approved, but it is endorsed by dozens of Cardinals, Bishops, and the Pope himself. Related Bible Verses about Jesus
These Marian apparitions claim that Mary has attributes that the Bible says only Jesus (and in some cases the Holy Spirit) has. Consider the Bible verses below from both the Protestant King James and Catholic New American Bible's. In both cases they directly contradict the apparition claims. See this link for a list of 20 claims the Marian apparitions make about Mary that are directly contradicted by the Bible. Also note that nowhere in the Bible does God say that Mary has any of these traits. Additionally, God specifically warned us that these apparitions would be commonplace in the last days, and that their purpose would be to deceive us. For more information on that, see clips numbers 6, 7 and 8 of the Messages From Heaven videotape.
Protestant King James Version (KJV) Bible Catholic New American Bible (NAB)
John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Acts 4:11-12 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Hosea 13:4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
John 4:42 and they said to the woman, "We no longer believe because of your word; for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the savior of the world."
Acts 4:11-12 He is the stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.
Hebrews 7:25 Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.
Hosea 13:4 I am the LORD, your God, since the land of Egypt; You know no God besides me, and there is no savior but me.
1 Corinthians 3:5-9 Who then is Paul, and who [is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
Explanation of 1 Corinthians 3:5-9: We share the Gospel message of salvation (plant) with the lost and we also follow up by teaching (watering) the new convert. However, only God (the Holy Spirit) causes actual conversions.
1 Corinthians 3:5-9 What is Apollos, after all, and what is Paul? Ministers through whom you became believers, just as the Lord assigned each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who causes the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters are equal, and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor. For we are God's co-workers; you are God's field, God's building.
The sixth video clip from the English version of the video is titled (on our web site) "Comparing messages from the Marian apparitions to the Bible". In that clip, a comparison is made between the characteristics the Marian apparitions claim for themselves against the Bible. Keep in mind that with the exception of the Medjugorje apparitions, only Catholic church and Bishop approved messages were considered in this video.
