To all,

I am forwarding a very important request for assistance on election day next month. We are engaged in statewide effort to collect signatures seeking a change to the Ohio Constitution. This simple change [after approved by voters on the ballot in 2001] will permanently provide for a completely elected State Board of Education. The structure of having a completely elected board was taken away from Ohioans five years ago. We are simply seeking to restore this state policy making body to a completely elected board.

Many of you already understand what is being proposed in state policy for education and its impact on school-aged children and families. This email list has grown considerably in recent weeks. Those who are newer recipients will soon understand these policies as you receive forthcoming updates.

But we need EVERYONE'S help on this project. The petitions must be signed in all counties by registered voters. ELECTION DAY IS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO COLLECT SIGNATURES FROM REGISTERED VOTERS !! Please consider dedicating a few hours that day to help us!

Suggested ways to help:

1. Contact Truth in Government to get petitions and supporting material. Plan to stand at the election polls with at least two clipboards holding petitions. You must watch each petitioner sign.

2. If you have small children, find a friend who can trade off the time with you. Share the childcare. :-)

3. If you work during the day, plan to stop at the polls on your way home from work and collect signatures for an hour or two.

4. If you can't stand at the polls yourself due to work constraints or other reasons, please consider seeking the help of your friends and relatives to work at polls near to them. We need signatures in ALL counties. :-)

Every single family....children who are educated publicly, privately, and home educated will benefit by having a State Board of Education more accountable to the citizens of this state.


THIS WILL BE THE QUICKEST WAY TO GET MOST OF THE SIGNATURES WE NEED. IT WILL BE TIME WELL SPENT. PLEASE HELP US GET POLL WORKERS. ASK YOUR NETWORKS, CHURCHES, CO-WORKERS, ETC.

You can help our statewide petition effort to return the Ohio Board of Education to a FULLY elected body! We need volunteers to spend an hour or two at your polling place to collect petition signatures on Nov 7th.
